Genoa Township > Elected Officials > Rick Carfagna

Rick Carfagna

Rick Carfagna was elected to the Genoa Township Board of Trustees in November 2009, and he was appointed Chairman in January 2011.  Rick serves as the Board’s representative on both the Township’s Investment Committee and on the Delaware General Health District’s Advisory Council.

Rick has work experience in both the public and private sectors, ranging from work at a young age in his family’s small grocery business to extensive time later spent working with state and local governments.

An area native, Rick attended grade school at St. Paul in Westerville and graduated from St. Francis DeSales High School in Columbus.  Rick earned his B.A. in Political Science from John Carroll University.  Following graduation, Rick was accepted into the Ohio Legislative Service Commission’s Fellowship Program and later served as a legislative aide in the Ohio House of Representatives where he staffed the House Public Utilities Committee.

Since 2002, Rick has worked for Time Warner Cable as Government Relations Manager.  In addition to overseeing legislative and regulatory issues at the local, state, and federal levels, Rick is the company’s primary liaison to over 400 municipalities and townships throughout Central and Southeast Ohio, and also provides support to over 400 additional local governments in Northwest Ohio.

In January 2011, Rick was elected by the Delaware County Local Government Association, a consortium of the county’s 28 local governments, to serve as the organization’s first President.   Rick also sits on the Government Affairs Committee formed under the Delaware County Chambers of Commerce (Delaware Area, Greater Powell Area, and Sunbury/Big Walnut Area Chambers), and he represents his company before 26 additional Chambers of Commerce throughout Central and Southeast Ohio.

Rick’s previous community efforts involve volunteerism on Genoa Township’s Road Levy Committee and Police & Fire Levy Committee, as well as working the polls for several elections as an Election Day Field Technician for the Delaware County Board of Elections.  He is also a member of BalletMet’s Advocacy Committee, and he has volunteered his time as a literacy mentor through the Big Brothers Big Sisters’ “Time to Read” program.

Rick and his wife, Jill, are the proud parents of a daughter, Isabella.  They reside in the Shellbark Ridge subdivision and are parishioners at St. Paul Catholic Church in Westerville.  In his spare time, Rick enjoys relaxing with his family and friends, is an avid football fan, and also likes golf, movies, and cooking.
