Safe Routes to School Travel Plan

Genoa Township is currently in the process of developing a Safe Routes to School Travel Plan for the three Elementary Schools and Middle School located within our boundaries.   Alcott Elementary, Fouse Elementary and Genoa Middle school are part of the Westerville City School District.  Walnut Creek Elementary is part of the Olentangy Local School District.  A School Travel Plan outlines how local communities can encourage parents and students to travel to and from school in ways other than by motor vehicle or school bus.

The Plan seeks to identify:

·         barriers to students walking or biking to school,

·         ways to provide students with a safer route to school,

·         and ways to encourage more students to walk or bike to school.

The end result of the Plan should be to reduce individual car trips, increase walking and bicycling and making the environment for walking and bicycling safer.

The Township would like to invite you to participate in the development of our Safe Routes to School Travel Plan by attending one of the following public workshops.
