Genoa Township Board of Property Owners' Association (BPOA)

 

The Genoa Township BPOA is to be a public-private partnership between local civic associations, homeowner’s associations, condo associations and Genoa Township.

 

PURPOSE

The purpose of Genoa Township BPOA is to form a non-profit organization focused on providing collaborative services to local property owners and Property Owners’ Associations, including the following:

  • Cost savings through strength in numbers
  • Legal assistance
  • A collective voice
  • Education and training for members
  • Legislative advocacy
  • Model rules and regulations
  • Complaint response support
  • Accounting and financial assistance
  • Property management consultation

MEETINGS

“General meetings” of all members shall be held quarterly or as needed. They will be held at locations, times and days as determined by the Board of Directors.  The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 21, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. in the Genoa Township Hall, 5111 S. Old 3C Hwy., Westerville OH 43082.

 

The Board of Directors (hereinafter known as “Board”) shall have as needed “Board Meetings.” All Board meetings will be open to all members. Board meetings shall be advertised by e-mail to all members at least 48 hours in advance.

 

MEMBERSHIP

Eligible member associations are BPOA Representatives chosen or elected by their respective association.  The Board of Directors may consider terminating the membership of a member association. A member will be allowed to meet with the Board before a decision is made to terminate that member’s membership. The Board will give a member association a letter stating the reasons for termination at least 30 days prior to such a decision being made.  To remain a member in good standing, with voting rights, a contact information form must be updated with the Secretary at least annually.

 

This organization began on February 28, 2011 by a vote of the majority of representative present.

 

 
 

BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND OFFICERS

The following are the current Board of Directors:

  1. Ron Staab, President, Director at Large (Shellbark Ridge)
  2. Dorothy Driskell, Vice President, Director at Large (Blackhawk Forest)
  3. Barbara Lewis, Secretary, Township Representative (Lake of the Woods)
  4. Kristie Bostick, Director from a Civic Association (Indian/Maple Run)
  5. Fred Rice, Director from a small Home Owners’ Association – less than 50 homes (Lake of the Woods Estates)
  6. Joe Barganier, Director from a large Home Owners’ Association - 50 or greater homes (Highland Lakes South)
  7. George Schultz, Director from a Condo Owners’ Association (Village at Harvest Wind)

The Directors are elected by the general membership of their respective group within the Genoa Township BPOA. At large Directors are elected by general membership. The township representative shall be appointed by the Township Board of Trustees. The Board then shall elect President, a Vice President and a Secretary from amongst its members.
