Recycling

A video and information on how your recyclables are processed and used is available at http://rumpkerecycling.com/education/videos.aspx .

Genoa Township residents have curbside recycling provided as part of a contract for trash pick-up with Rumpke.  Recycling bins are provided and may be picked up at the Genoa Township Administration Office located at 5111 So. Old 3C Hwy. (corner of Big Walnut Rd./Old Rte. 3).

Additionally, thanks to grants issued by the DKMM (Delaware, Knox, Marion, Morrow Counties) and ODNR (Ohio Department of Natural Resources), Genoa Township has a dumpster for your recycling needs.  Bins are emptied every Monday and Wednesday.  The dumpster is located at the Maintenance Complex, 7049 Big Walnut Road (at the corner of State Route 3 and Big Walnut Rd.). This service is provided free of charge to all Township residents.

One dumpster is for paper only.  Newspaper, computer, notebook, construction, brown/white grocery bags, mail, etc.  All paper goods should be placed in brown paper sacks in the dumpster (no plastic bags are allowed).

An additional bin for paper, provided by ABITIBI Paper Recycling, has been added at this location.  This bin while not maintained by Delaware County, is also free of charge.

Unacceptable Items:  Paint cans, plastic lids, books, plastic bags of any kind, tires, light bulbs, non-food glass containers, Styrofoam egg cartons, batteries, poisonous toxic items, flammables, corrosives, yard waste or reactive materials.

Price-Barnes Organics is a disposal facility for yard waste.  They are located at 4838 Warrensburg Rd., Delaware, OH 43015 and are open year round. For additional information please call (740) 362-4838.

A new option for household hazardous waste (HHW) and home computer disposal is now available for residents of the DKMM.  For a fee, residents can drop off HHW at Environmental Enterprises, Inc. (EEI), located at 645 E. Eighth Ave. in Columbus.  Fees for the service are $50 per passenger car and $100 per pickup truck load, payable by cash or credit card.  During December, EEI asks DKMM residents to phone the firm at (614) 294-1300 before coming to the EEI facility.  For additional information please call EEI directly.

In September, there are two Household Hazardous Waste & Tire Drop Off Days.  These dates are announced in the Genoa Township Newsletter as well as the local newspapers.

The Township Maintenance Department holds Leaf Drop Off Days the month of November.  During that time, yard waste can be dropped off at the maintenance building located at 7049 Big Walnut Rd.

If you have questions regarding the disposal of special items or recycling, please call Keep Delaware County Beautiful at (740) 368-1700.
